I am happy to continue a family and personal tradition of service to the Capital City. I previously served as Mayor (1980-1983) and City Commissioner (1978-1979). My father, Frank W. Sower, served as Mayor (1968-1971). My grandfather, John R. Sower, served as Mayor Pro Tem, in the 1930’s and my great-grandfather, Peter Christian Sower, served as City Councilman in 1895.
I graduated from Good Shepherd School in Frankfort and then from Western Kentucky University with a degree Business Administration. I owned and operated Sower Office Equipment at 219 St. Clair Street for many years until my retirement in 2006. Besides holding office and operating a business, I have held leadership positions in many local organizations, including YMCA, Boy Scouts, Rotary, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Emergency Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society, as well as coaching baseball, basketball and soccer.
Having renovated the Sower family home at 112 Wilkinson St., my wife, Phyllis, and I make our home there. We have 3 sons, Johnny, Tom and Will and 2 granddaughters. Phyllis has practiced law in Frankfort for 38 years. We attend Good Shepherd Church. Among the qualities that I value most are my commitment to faith, family, freedom and frugality in government.
I will be available to listen to concerns and address them, doing the necessary research to find the best solutions. Like most Frankfort families, I believe in smaller, efficient government (one of conservative fiscal policies), promoting economic development and helping families and senior citizens.
