January 10, 2018 – At their December 2017 Voting Meeting the Frankfort City Commission adopted the City’s 2018-2019 Policy Agenda Priorities. According to City Manager Cindy Steinhauser, after several meetings with staff and the Commissioners the Board voted to focus on priorities that will help our community continue to be a great place to live, work and play.
Some of the priorities focus on improving the economic atmosphere of Frankfort including encouraging a better balanced, more diverse business sector by lessening our reliance on state government. Other priorities encourage maintaining and improving City partnerships with organizations such as the local school systems, Downtown Frankfort, Inc., Tourism, the Kentucky Capital Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce to strengthen community ties.
The Priorities also included a Vision Statement which reads “Nestled on the banks of the Kentucky River, Frankfort is the crown jewel of Kentucky. As the capital city, Frankfort is a welcoming and diverse community with a thriving economy and residents experiencing affordable and healthy living, active lifestyles, quality education, livable neighborhoods, with opportunities to succeed.”
The Commission also adopted a Mission Statement that will guide the Board and staff toward meeting their goals. The Mission Statement reads “Frankfort, as Kentucky's Capital City, is committed to preserving its unique history while taking a proactive approach to building its future. We promote an enhanced quality of life, work and play by providing professional services in a responsive, timely and compassionate manner that meets and exceeds expectations of all our citizens.”
Below is an alphabetical listing of the Policy Agenda Priorities. Throughout the 2018, the City will work towards completing each goal, ensuring that Frankfort remains the historical, reliant, and progressive city it is today.
