Dear Citizen and Visitor: On behalf of the Board of Commissioners and entire staff welcome to the City of Frankfort's new website! We are here to serve you, with a record of service dating from our first municipal charter in 1786. Now we are made accessible to you twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven days a week through this e-government means. Our first objective in these pages is to become better acquainted. Later refinements of the website will allow you to conduct business with city departments without having to leave your home, particularly when it comes to making known your requests, getting answers and obtaining permits and other information. We hope this will not deter you from visiting our offices and our meetings. The five member elected Board of Commissioners or "City Commission" as it is alternately called meets at least four times a month -- held on the first two Mondays of the month at 5:00 pm, the third Monday of the month at 12:30 pm, and on the fourth Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Our agenda allows time for citizens to make comments to the board. You will find us good listeners, endeavoring to treat each one equally. We share common goals with all our citizens which are: - Harmonious relationship and mutual respect even when points of view differ.
- Problem solving that looks at setting and achieving goals which make Frankfort better wherever she is lacking.
- Being good neighbors to you, your family and requirements you have of maintaining a good job.
- Placing a high priority on quality of life issues and environmental stewardship so as to protect what God has richly bequeathed to us here on the banks and bluffs of the Kentucky River.
- Each of us collectively doing an even better job to facilitate the work of our Governor, General Assembly members, and State Officers who rely on Frankfort as an uncommon host for State government.
- Supporting our clergy, educators, parents, and business leaders out of the realization that each has a leadership role that is altogether essential to making up the whole.
- And lastly, keeping a sense of humor.
Paraphrasing others, may it be said of our beloved city, "there's no place like this place so this must be the place," "a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden."
