Residential Waste Pick-up Notice: Rules and guidelines of tree and brush collections during bad weather:
The City will make every possible attempt to collect brush and tree limbs in a timely manner. Piles should be in manageable sizes. Limbs shall be stacked with cut ends facing the street. Please no criss-crossing, maximum weight of limbs not to exceed 50 lbs.
The City shall not collect tree residue or brush as a result of a private tree contractor's work. Contractor's are responsible for disposal of tree residue.

The City of Frankfort collects solid waste and recyclables from residential properties and recycling only for the Renaissance District downtown located within the city limits. Garbage is collected curbside and delivered to the landfill located here in Franklin County. Brush and tree limbs are collected separately from garbage and chipped into mulch. Appliances are also collected separately and shipped to a recycler. Recyclables are collected curbside and at our drop off area at 301 Rouse Avenue, where they are processed and marketed to businesses who use these materials to make new products. SOLID WASTE COLLECTION REGULATIONSNo waste or waste containers shall be allowed to remain exposed in front of any buildings, within a public street or alley right of way, or were the sight of them would be a public nuisance for a longer time then shall be reasonably necessary for collection. The containers shall be promptly removed from the sidewalk or public right of way after they have been emptied. Waste and recycling containers shall be placed at the curb on sooner than the evening prior to collection and no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection and removed that evening. Trash CAN Size for collection-Thirty-Two (32) GALLON ( NO larger) with LIDS, weight NOT over Fifty (50) LBS. (Cardboard BOXES are NOT suitable garbage containers). Solid waste shall be PLACED at the curb NO sooner than the Evening prior to collection & NO later than 7:00 A.M. collection day. NOT Collected-Dead Animals, Petroleum Products, Tires, Hazardous Waste, Hot Ashes, Propane Tanks, Metal Poles, Paint, (Paint cans can be collected if the paint is dried or solidified with sand or kitty litter & cans set out with lids off). Drain LIQUIDS-from all Containers prior to putting them in the garbage can. SMALL Loose Material which could be Wind-Blown (grass, clippings, leaves, paper) shall be Properly Containerized & Bagged. ITEMS that may Require BUNDLING include (Empty/Flattened) Cardboard Boxes, Carpet Cut & Tied-In Four (4) Foot sections & NOT weighing over Fifty (50)LBS. per bundle. A violation of the Solid Waste Regulation shall be considered a civil offense for which a citation my be issued, after two written warnings, returnable to the Frankfort Code Enforcement Board. The penalty shall not be less than $50.00 or more then $500.00
