Zoning Codes comprise of three parts: 

Part 1: Subdivision Regulations;
Part 2: Zoning Regulations; and
Part 3: Comprehensive Plan - 2001.

Subdivision codes are ordinances that provide the process and standards property is to be subdivised within the City of Frankfort.  This includes minor subdivision (dividing a parcel into 5 or less lots or the reconfiguration of shared lot lines as well as major subdivisions of residential, commercial, or industrial land.

Zoning codes are ordinances that have been adopted by the City Commission, which detail the regulations of development.  Meaning that it describes the uses, setbacks, height, lot size, road widths, required parking spaces, fences, site plans, building permits and sign requirements for each property. 

Each property has a zoning district designated on it.  Each zoning district is described within the City zoning code.  These districts determine what is allowed and what type of uses are permitted.  The permitting process is also found within the Zoning Code.

The Comprehensive Plan - 2001 - provides goals objectives and policies for our zoning and subdivision ordinances.  The plan identifies and describes future land use categories for the City and the County for the next 10 years.   The Plan is used as a guide to regulate future development within the City.
