Parks and Recreation Department

The Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Department is a division of the City of Frankfort and is managed by the City Manager's Department, the citizen elected City Commission, and a seven member Parks Advisory Board. The department has 12 full time staff that provide administrative, maintenance and programming for the department and employs over 200 part time and seasonal employees throughout the year for daily maintenance, facility tours, safety, youth and adult sports administration and much more.  

There are nine parks in the city with approximately 900 acres in total. The parks are spread across the community providing various different recreational opportunities for the citizens and visitors to Frankfort. You'll find a little bit for everyone...from sport leagues, courts and fields, a large aquatic center, splash pads, 18-hole golf course, museum and various historic sites, hiking trails, mountain biking trails, nature preserves, playgrounds, picnic facilities, and much more.
