The Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites will be holding a ribbon cutting for the H.G. Mays Trail at the Cove Spring Wetlands at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16 according to Director Jim Parrish. The ceremony will be held at the trail head on Lewis Ferry Road near the levy.
The trail was named for Mays because of his help and willingness to allow a small portion of the trail to go through his property. “He had been very accommodating and is a real preservationist,” said Parrish.
The trail was constructed by the City of Frankfort with funds from a Recreational Trails grant, highlights the natural beauty of the wetlands and is open to the public.
